The Nassau County Aquatic Center is an 82,000 SF building, housing an indoor pool that is open 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round. It was originally constructed for the 1998 for the Goodwill Games. The facility hosts many national and international swimmers as well as thousands of Nassau County residents of all ages.
The 82,000 SF center includes a “stretch 50-meter Olympic pool this is 68 meters long with 3 movable bulkheads. There is also a diving well with a 10-meter competition diving tower.
The county intends to fully rehabilitate, and restore the aquatic center. The restoration will include HVAC system replacements, roof and skylight replacement, wall replacement, pool work and more rehabilitation tasks. The building will also meet ADA requirements. The construction budget is estimated to be about $14 million.
