The 207th Street Overhaul shop is located in northern Manhattan between 10th Avenue and the Harlem River extending from 207th Street to 215th Street. This 43-acre complex was built between 1928 and 1932 to perform major repairs and heavy maintenance for approximately 2000 passenger cars. YAS performed structural engineering services including inspection, alteration, and renovation services for the existing 207th Street Overhaul Shop, one of two main overhaul shops for the New York City Subways. The completed design created a new shop within the walls of the existing facility and a new 120-foot-long addition. The extension is a structural steel frame resting on pile cap foundations. The alteration and renovation involved reinforcement of the existing steel frame and alterations of the existing pile cap foundations. The total area of the shop is about 330,000 SF and a 38,000 SF addition. Estimated $165 million construction cost to rehabilitate the Shop and Yard.
