The Hudson River Park project involves transforming an industrial waterfront area along the Hudson River into a public recreational park area. Previously condemned and closed to the public, Pier 64 will be contained in the northern part of the “Chelsea” section of the park. It has formerly housed an old shed which will be removed as part of the plan to create acres of lawns, gardens, open piers, and other attractions. An esplanade will line the Chelsea section, tying together Pier 64 and the other renovated piers of the park.
