Previously the headquarters of Merrill Lynch in Plainsboro, New Jersey, this half mile long structural steel structure was designed and constructed with a precast panel façade. With the advent of new tenants, the building had undergone a major face lift. Three quarters of the exterior façade will be removed and replaced with a panelized system allowing 50% more light than the current wall. One quarter of the wall in the back will remain and covered with a metal panel to match the new system.
The project began with a condition survey of the floors, ceilings, fire proofing, steel, concrete and raised floor. All deficiencies were documented and discussed with the Owner. Repair methods were developed and initiated immediately.
In conjunction with the exterior renovation, the mechanical system as well as the roofing system will be upgraded to achieve maximum energy savings.
