YAS provided structural design services for the new 3-story, 62,760sf Life Sciences Building with associated site work and parking lot extension / reconfiguration.
The new LEED certified academic building houses classrooms, laboratories, computer stations, and two lecture halls with screens overlooking open space areas. This will enable students to train on state-of-the-art equipment specializing in life sciences disciplines such as biology, chemistry, environmental science and nursing. Among the features is a three-story glass atrium with a digital video wall.
This will be the first new building Suffolk Community College has seen in almost 50 years.
The new building will replace the college’s Smithtown Science Building, which will become administrative offices and classroom spaces.
