The Center for Excellence in Wireless & Information Technology (CEWIT) at Stony Brook is a new 100,000 gross square foot building with a cost of $47.7 million. This state of the art infrastructure supports wireless communications in addition to standard communication and power distribution systems. To facilitate scientific exchange and collaboration with the ability to share common lab equipment, laboratory areas have an “open plan” design. Offices are also designed with this open plan concept to house faculty, researchers, and support staff.
The new structure is of a steel framed system with concrete slab on metal deck. CEWIT was completed in October 2008. Received a LEED silver rating.
