The new control tower at Cancun’s International Airport will be over 100 meters high, designed for seismic and hurricane wind loads, and will be one of the ten tallest control towers in the world. The tower is designed with a tuned mass damper in the bottom of the cabin to control acceleration and provide comfort for the air traffic controllers. The tower’s main shaft is of reinforced concrete construction, with the cab and services level and cab roof framed with steel trusses and beams, with concrete on metal deck floor system.

YAS, P.C. performed structural design review and value engineering services on this project.
