YAS provided structural engineering services for a new 5-story, 145,000sf public school situated within the Hunter’s Point South Development in Queens, NY. The new campus houses three separate schools, Hunter’s Point Community Middle School which occupies the third and part of the first floor for grades 6 - 12; The Riverview School, a 6-12 District 75 program located on the second floor, and The Academy for Careers in TV and Film, located in the top two floors for grades 9 -12. The entire campus accommodates over 1,000 students and includes a column-free gymnasium, a centrally located, stadium style seating auditorium, and dining spaces which are placed on the top floor adjacent to a large outdoor terrace with views of Manhattan. Completed in August 2013 with a construction cost of $61 million.
